How can you handsew flare jeans in to skinny jeans?

I sometimes don't have money to go buy another pair of jeans and I have old flare styled jeans I don't wear anymore. My grandmother can do it for me, but she lives in San Diego and I live in Los Angeles. And also, she uses a sewing machine. I know you can handsew them but I don't know how. If you do, can you help me and expalin how?

What you do is you unpick the seam at the side of the leg of your jeans. You cut along the open edge, so that when you sew it together, it won't flare out anymore. Make sure you don't cut too little or too much. What you can do is wrap the leg part around your leg, so that you have a rough guide as to how much to cut.

Remember to keep about a centimeter or so extra, so that you have a seam when you sew it together.

After you've cut it, pin the leg part 'right sides together', i.e., the bit that people see when you're wearing it. Hand/machine stitch along the pinned edge, leaving about centimeter gap between the line of stitching and the raw edge. Iron the seam flat, and you now have your own pair of skinny jeans!
